Thank you for a magical and moving experience last night. I really appreciate your art and dedication to SebArts. The event has raised over $5,500 for Sebastopol Center for the Arts. -- Serafina Palandech, Director
Learn things by heart, because they die of cold on the page! — Rumi
Rumi’s Caravan is all about inspiring people with our poetic conversation, especially those who haven’t heard us before. From up on the stage, we are overjoyed to see audience members lighting up with the realization that a train of poetic images has connected to the story in their own lives.
The process of bringing the Caravan to a city outside of the San Francisco Bay Area is both simple and relatively inexpensive:
— A local committee steps forward to sponsor us and identify a deserving non-profit group. This process works best when the non-profit group is large enough to provide volunteers.
— The committee (sometimes a committee of only two or three) books an appropriate venue, does publicity, provides refreshments, decorates the venue, finds appropriate musicians to accompany us and staffs the event.
— We ask only transportation costs and simple lodging.
— All proceeds (after venue, food, musicians, PR, etc) then go to the non-profit group. Results: a soulful evening for all involved, and funds for the deserving.
